Invention (music)
See also: Invention
In Classical music, a invention is a small composition - generally intended for the keyboard - using a counterpoint to two voice (sometimes three).
Description
An invention is a running away with two votes - considerably simpler thus than a running away with four votes. The principal difference is that there does not exist " réponse".
Exposure
One of the two votes states the " sujet" , musical reason in the principal tone. The second voice then states the subject in its turn while the first embroiders a counterpoint.
