Centuries later, Kagome, a girl of current Japan, fall into the puit from the temple where she lives and can thus cross the times. It arrives in the village even where the robbery attempt of the pearl took place fifty years earlier and its resemblance to Kikyo does not escape the new priestess, Kaede, which is not other than the sister of Kikyo. Attacked by a monster, Kagome releases Inu-Yasha of its fate while making disappear the bewitched arrow which maintained it in a state of lethargy. It proves that Kagome carries in her the pearl of Shikon. But it destroys the pearl inopportunely, and the fragments scatter in the world. Inu-Yasha and Kagome then link their efforts for the retrouver.

Characters

Heroes

Inu-Yasha is Hanyo, a hybrid being semi-man semi-demon. It has the capacity to be regenerated when it is wounded. It has a supernatural force. With each new moon, Inu-Yasha is metamorphosed into simple human. It loses its supernatural gifts at this time and becomes simple human. It is in possession of Tessaïga, a magic saber whose name means “the hooks being able to crush steel”. The father of Inu-Yasha, a powerful giant demon, had manufactured this saber from one of his teeth to protect the mother from Inu-Yasha, human. Tessaïga has several techniques (the bite of the wind, the bakuryuha) that Inu-yasha will learn progressively from their voyage with the assistance of Tôtôsaï. In its search, Inu-yasha discovers that fifty years earlier Naraku had wounded Kikyo while being made pass for him. He wants to kill Naraku to be avenged. He falls in love with Kagome, after being himself given an account of his feelings for it.

Kagome (pronounce Kagomé) has our time, it is fifteen years old, it goes to the college and passes its examinations of entry to the college. It can be of an extreme softness, but also become frightening to drive out the demons at the Sengoku period. Thanks to the magic collar that Kaede attached to the neck of Inu-yasha (and that only human can remove), it can immobilize it by pronouncing the word “lying” (Inu-Yasha is violently crushed flat belly by ground). It is the reincarnation of the Kikyo priestess, with which Inu-Yasha was in love fifty years ago. It has the capacity to feel the presence of the fragments of the pearl of Shikon which it unfortunately broke. It is in love with Inu-Yasha.

Their friends

Kikyô is a miko (priestess Shinto) and guardian of the pearl of Shikon, her role was to protect the village. She liked Inu-Yasha, but she was killed by Naraku (disguised in Inu-Yasha) fifty years before the history starts. She was ressuscitée by the Urasué witch and lives again from now on in a made ground body and bone that she owes " remplir" hearts of dead young girls to be able to move. But its heart remains fixed in the feelings which it tested at the time of its death.

Kaede is a miko. It is the little sister of Kikyô. She is the first to recognize her sister réincarnée in Kagome.

Shippo is a Kitsune , a young orphan demon-fox. After the death of his father, killed by the Raiju brothers, it is the first to be joined Kagome and Inu Yasha in their search. Shippo has the capacity to be metamorphosed. But its transformations are temporary, do not succeed always, or are incomplete. It is often easily recognizable with its tail of fox which it did not succeed in metamorphosing. It can also handle the fire of the fox.

Miroku is a buddhist monk. He is victim of the curse of the Kaza Anna . He has a magic air pocket to the right hand, which can aspire all that is around him with the manner of a tornado. He can thus destroy a great quantity of monsters, but that requires much energy of him. He inherited this curse of his grandfather, who was overcome at the time a combat against Naraku fifty years before. Miroku fears Saimyoshôs. They are the insects of the hell. They resemble of the giant Frelons and have an extremely poisonous poison, Naraku handles them and sends them by whole swarm on Miroku. The insects are not made aspire by the Kaza Anna but they are thrown inside to poison Miroku. As long as Miroku will not have killed Naraku, the curse will be transmitted to its descendants. Moreover, the air pocket grows with the years, the force of aspiration also increasing, it will be made aspire one day in nothing. The father and the grandfather of Miroku died thus. Miroku is a monk hooligan and pervert. It steals that which it needs and what it finds on its way. It happens that when he crosses a pretty girl, he asks to him whether it would agree to be the mother of its children or that its hands are found malicieusement on the buttocks of the young girls. It falls in love with Sango.

Sango is chasseuse demons. It is originating in a village of professional hunters of demons and is the surviving last. The pearl of Shikon is also originating in this village. It handles Hiraikotsu, which means “the flying bone” and resembles a splendid boomerang of two meters, it was manufactured by the father of Sango with bones of demons. Its village was completely destroyed by Naraku and all the inhabitants were massacred. It joint the search to avenge its village and it tries to save her Kohaku little brother who is held by Naraku. It falls in love with Miroku. Kirara is its faithful cat and crafty one.

Kirara (pronounce Kilala) is the faithful cat with Sango, it accompanies it everywhere. Kirara is a small smart kitten with two tails. It can take the one second appearance and be transformed into Fire Cat (cat of fire). It becomes a frightening demon as large as a car, able to fly in the airs and to make gigantic jumps. It drives out the other demons as if they were simple rodents. It occasionally transports his friends on his back, in particular to help them.

Myoga is a demon-chip. In the series, it appears to the heroes on the back of Kirara and was the chip of Inu-Yasha in the past. Previously, it was with the service of the father of InuYasha. It hardly keeps memory of this last if not delicious taste of its blood. It is an invaluable information source for Inu Yasha. Usually, he flees in the dangerous situations. It is initially charged to protect the skin and fall it from the father of Inu Yasha which had Tessaïga. The tomb was hidden in a black pearl in the right eye of Inu Yasha and was open during its first passage with his/her big brother, Sesshômaru. In addition to the fact that Myoga appreciates to drink blood of demons, it already saved the life with Inu Yasha by aspiring poisoned blood, like in Kagome by giving him regenerating blood. It is immortal.

Kohaku is the little brother of Sango, shy person and holding enormously with his sister, it is under the control of Naraku which made it amnesic to do one of its henchmen of them. Under the influence of Naraku, it has the empty glance and is satisfied to carry out its orders. It killed also his father and wounded his sister. He died in this confrontation but a piece of the pearl of Shikon maintains it in life.

Hôjô is a boy who saw at our time, he is in the same college that Kagome and is in love with it without that not being reciprocal. When Kagome does not go to the college during several days since it is in the past, it claims to be sick to justify its absences. Hôjô offers gifts relating to the imagined diseases to him and are completely useless in Kagome.

Hashi is a Tanuki , i.e. a viverrine, frequent Chien in the Japanese fantastic bestiary (like Shippô, the kitsunê ). It resembles a raccoon. It is with the service of Miroku which sometimes employs it with its swindles. It with faculty to change, generally in flying means of transport. It is rather timorous and seeks to flee any place where a combat is announced

Their enemies

Naraku (to pronounce " nalak'" by aspiring the " u" final, just outlined) (the hell means) is the enemy of all the heroes. When it was still human, he was a gangster bearing the name of Oni gumo (demon spider means). He was seriously wounded and could not move, Kikyô looked after it in a cave, until the day when he sold his heart with several demons in exchange to be able to marry Kikyô. The demons seized its body and it was metamorphosed in hanyô (half man, half demon). The principal goal of Naraku is to gather all the glares of Shikon in order to become a very powerful demon.

Sesshômaru (to pronounce " sechomal'" by aspiring the " u" final, just outlined) is the older half-brother of Inu Yasha. With the difference of Inu Yasha, Sesshômaru is entirely demon and mistaken Inu Yasha to be Hanyô and to join the human ones. It is a very powerful demon, which seems not to have an adversary with its size when it reached its full powerss. Although it has the chance with the volume 23 of it, it does not beat Naraku. Sesshômaru appears initially with the research of the sword called Tessaiga. Whereas it holds Tenseiga, which allows ressusciter deaths. It has one second sword, the Tôkijin , which was forged with the teeth of an extension of Naraku. Its servant, Jaken, and an young girl, name of Rin, follow it everywhere since it them has both saved. He walks on a bicephalous dragon, Aun (pronounce Aoune). Its Tenseiga can ressuciter but cannot kill. Have myself some thus until the Tôkijin breaks at the time of a battle. Then, it will see Tôtôsaï , the inventor of the saber to reforge it in new. It can thus produce a new attack, the Meidou Zangetsuha which produces a black circle (at the beginning in the form of half-moon) which sends all that it touches directly in hell. The name of " Sesshômaru" can be translated in two ways: " destruction of the circle of the vie" or " perfection meurtrière". Many fans are attached to the second translation but the technique of its Tenseiga sword can bring to think that the 1e translation is rightest.

Kôga is the young chief of the clan of the demon-wolves. Rival of Inu Yasha because in love with Kagome, it ends up joining it in his search after the near total of its clan was made assassinate by Kagura, on order of Naraku. The power of Koga comes mainly from the pieces of the pearl which it has in the two legs. Later in the history it uses the " Goraïshi" , of the ancestral magic claws using the capacity of generations of demon-wolves.

Kagura (to pronounce " kag' la" by hardly outlining the " u") Youkai of the wind, it is created by Naraku and wants to be released from its influence. She asks for the assistance of Sesshômaru which refuses, pretexting not to have any reason validates to help it. Nevertheless, one feels a certain attachment to be created between the two during the series.

Kanna Sister of Kagura and first " extraction" about Naraku she speaks little. She walks constantly with a mirror having the capacity to aspire the hearts of people or to return their attack.

Shichinintai It is a band of seven mercenaries which lived 10 years before the action. They were feared for their way of killing particularly atrocious. The Daimyô S (Lords of the war) ended up their tightening a trap by sending them to attack a castle and in their tightening a ambush with the return. Shichinintai were then decapitated. 10 years later, they were ressuscities by Naraku (thanks to the capacity of the fragments of the Pearl of Shikon) which urged them to face Inuyasha, in exchange of a new life.

  • Bankotsu is youngest of Shichinintai but the chief of this band. It has an important physical force but is not satisfied any. In fact, he dreams to have capacities similar to those of yôkais or the gods. He has a kind of sword (or halberd?) giantess called Banryu . To acquire capacities démoniaques, he swore to kill 1000 men and 1000 Yōkai S with this weapon (the capacities démoniaques can be transferred in an object). He will fill his account but will be overcome almost at once by Inuyasha which will return to him its démoniaque energy thanks to Bakuryuuha. The other comrades call it " o-aniki" , which means at the same time " large frère" and " chef". Physically, Bankotsu is young, to the dye enough sheepskin, the blue eyes and carries a long plait. It attaches a great importance to confidence and does not support treason. Another distinguishing mark, it cannot write, and that irritates it!
  • Jakotsu seems to be rather close to Bankotsu: they knew each other before the creation of Shichinintai. Some suggest even the existence of a homosexual relation between him and Bankotsu. Jakotsu uses a saber with multiple articulated blades called " Jakotsuto ". It has as a characteristic to be made up and equipped like a woman (kimono, sandals) and raises her hair with a pin. Jakotsu is a frankly sadistic character: its obsession is to meet beautiful men and to cut out them in sections! He wants absolutely to overcome Inuyasha and bring back his ears of dog in remembering. He is overcome by Inuyasha but is completed by Renkotsu.
  • Renkotsu is famous like most intelligent of Shichinintai. It uses fire to fight as well as multiple explosives. It also holds a gourd containing a flammable liquid which it spits on its adversaries. It has very small eyes and mask its absence of hair under a scarf. Renkotsu is very afraid with the idea to turn over in the world of dead and is ready with all, including betraying his/her companions, to thus acquire more fragments of Pearl of Shikon more capacities. It is overcome by Inuyasha but survives the combat. It is killed by Bankotsu which does not forgive him to have completed Jakotsu.

  • Suikotsu is the character more tortured of Shichinintai. In the beginning, Suikotsu was doctor, but saw a little girl dying under her eyes, killed by a soldier. Whereas it was going to be made kill, its second personality took the top and he became a frightening killer, armed with large metal claws which he fixes at his hands. He is the first to be joined Bankotsu and Jakotsu to form Shichinintai. However its personality of doctor remains hidden some share and can re-appear; Suikotsu is thus to some extent schizophrenic. It is killed out of an arrow by Kikyô whereas it was on the point of assassinating Rin.
  • Mukotsu is smallest of Shichinintai. It fights with very powerful poisons which it manufactures itself starting from plants. It carries a foulard blanc on the head and another on the face which is used to him to be protected from its own poisons but especially to dissimulate its ugliness. Its obsession is to find a wife, but considering its aspect and especially considering its method to be made marry, it does not find any of it… It is killed by Sesshômaru

  • Ginkotsu is a semi-human man semi-mechanics, whose body is truffle of various weapons (saws, hooks,…) manufactured by Renkotsu, to which it seems enough attached. After a first defeat against Inuyasha which will destroy most of its body, it is rebuilt by Renkotsu in a different form which is connected with that of a tank, which enables him to be used as means of transport for his/her comrades. It is killed by Kôga, but uses its fragment of Pearl of Shikon to protect Renkotsu from its own explosion. Ginkotsu has as a characteristic not really not to speak, but to emit kinds of puffed up sounds that his/her comrades seem to include/understand

  • Kyôkotsu is 1st of Shichinintai to make its appearance. It is at the same time largest and weakest of them. Its force lies only in its big face, but it is very easily overcome by Kôga. It is the only one of Shichinintai not to carry its fragment of Shikon to the neck, but to the face, which lets suppose that its first dead did not occur by decapitation like his/her comrades.

Mugen No Byakuya (means " Byakuya of the illusions") (to pronounce " Muguenne No Byak' ya")is the last " extraction" as Naraku and is used it without discussing. He does not think of betraying it like Hakudoshi or Kagura. It with faculty to generate illusions and to animate paper short periods to be made a mounting in the shape of bird. It can also separate from its winged eye for espionner.
