Intifada

Intifada (also written: Intifadah ) is an Arab term (of: انتفاضة) meaning rising. Employee on several occasions in Lebanon but also in Morocco or in Iraq to indicate a revolt against a mode oppressor or a foreign enemy, it also indicates two strong movements of popular opposition against the Israeli army present in the occupied territories and certain zones theoretically reserved for the Palestinian Autorité (Gaza Strip and the West Bank). It is a major fact within the israélo-Palestinian Conflit.

The the First Intifada, called war of the stones, began on December 9th, 1987. The the Second Intifada Palestinian, also called Intifada “Al-Aqsa” , begins on September 29th, 2000, the shortly after the visit of Ariel Sharon on the Esplanade of the Mosques/Mont of the Temple to Jerusalem.
