Intervilles

Intervilles is a French television program diffused on France 3. Guy Lux and Pierre Brive invents this play diffused each summer starting from the July 17th 1962 on the first chain of rtf, then of ORTF, then on TF1 and presented by Simone Garnier, Guy Lux (with his famous sentence “in the Simone car! ”), Leon Zitrone and Claude Savarit. The play is then diffused on France 2 in 2004 and 2005 then is diffused on France 3 since 2006.

Principle of the play

This play is founded on a friendly confrontation between two cities through a series of physical tests on ground, in water and the airs made of plays of address on travelator and spinner giving place to tumbles, without forgetting the inevitable test of the young cows landaises. A mental test supplements the play and allows two candidates concurrent cities to gain additional points while answering questions of general culture. With the number of points, the season ends in a final. Diffused in summer period, the audience of this emission beat all the records.

  • Interneiges and Interglaces , winter versions
  • Plays without borders , version in which teams of various European countries clash.
  • Intervilles Juniors , version for the children launched on April 7th 2007 on the chain of TNT Gulli and produced by Mistral production.

Credits

The credits of the emission are Shanana group Citizen' S appeared in 1986. It was remixé 5 times (in 1986, 1995, 1998, 1999 and 2004) especially for the emission. The latest to date was put at the antenna in 2004 but was not marketed contrary to its version sung by children. It can be nevertheless heard in the adaptation play PC left in 2007.

Victories

Version TF1

In July 1995, after one long period of absence, Intervilles returns on TF1 with to the orders Jean-Pierre Foucault, Fabrice, Nathalie Simon and Olivier Chiabodo. The emission is always carried out by Gilles Amado. The emission is produced by Glem. The formula evolves/moves because the emission proceeds only on one site, that of the town of reception against 2 before. Jean-Pierre Foucault defends the town of reception, Fabrice defends the invited city, Nathalie Simon tests the plays and Olivier Chiabodo the referee. One finds with few things the same plays in particular the Challenge (a great plan inclined to go up to the force of the arms) which will be a recurring test with each emission. One finds also to obviously them from now on famous Vachettes landaises. Success is immediate and the emission will beat records of audience. The first confrontation of this new concept of Intervilles which opposed Valencian and Saint-Amand-the-Water will be followed by more than 9 million televiewers. TF1 will go even until programming 4 editions of the play during the winter 1995.

Success is confirmed in 1996 without much notable change. To note that the Chiabodo business, which will burst in 1996, will start at the time of the finale with Paris which opposes the Puy of Insane the to Mont of Marsan. Video with the support, at the time of the test of the questions, Chiabodo had already the fingers which itched it… at the time when it was the turn of the Puy of Insane the.

1997 will be the year of the great turning for Intervilles . Fabrice does not pile up again because the emission had the annoying tendency to trample its holidays. Thierry Roland will replace it. A recurring new handset appears at the sides of the Challenge: the Ventriglisse . The goal is to slip possible further on a long soaped track. During the first emission which opposed the Puy of Insane the to the country of Ancenis, Chiabodo is taken again by its itchings in the same circumstances. The final takes place with Disneyland Paris and opposes the Puy of Insane the to Mount-with-Marsan. The Puy of Insane the will gain it. But the audience starts to erode. A few months after, the Duck connected reveals the Chiabodo business. The organizer denies but is isolated antenna. The business will show a withdrawal of case and Olivier Chiabodo is laid off of TF1.

The condemned emission is believed but the chain decides to give it to the antenna in 1998 with a very new team: Julien Courbet replaces Thierry Roland occupied by the Football world cup, Delphine Anaïs replaces Nathalie Simon left due to maternity, Laurent Mariotte replaces Olivier Chiabodo and Robert Wurtz becomes the official referee in order to try to make forget the ball which drag the emission. Only Jean-Pierre Foucault piles up again. The first emission takes place with Arras which receives Saint-Quentin and the final opposes Mount-with-Marsan to Dax in its arenas. But the continuous audience to tumble down and becomes rather average. Insufficient for TF1 which decides to stop the expenses.

Nevertheless, the chain programs in September 1999 special Paris/Beijing on line at the time of the year of China in France. The emission is presented by Jean-Pierre Foucault, Fabrice, Nathalie Simon and Laurent Mariotte. Always realized by Gilles Amado and produced by Glem and Mistral production. The play is diffused on line in France and China. The audience in France is very average what convinces TF1 definitively to put Intervilles at the wall cupboard.

Versions France Televisions

The years pass and the summers appear quite empty without Intervilles . Until 2004 when France 2 decides to give to the antenna this estival play. But in a new format developed by Mistral production: into daily and access time precedes! Moreover the emission will be recorded with the Europa Park in Germany on the site of the German emission.

This new grinding is presented by Nagui of which it is the great return on the public service, Juliette Arnaud, quasi unknown factor of the public with share to be ex-been engaged of Michael Youn and arbitrated by Robert Wurtz which had already officiated in 1998. Pom-pom girls answering in the name of Simones make their appearance.

The emission is cut out in 5 parts:

  • the first part is a play of swimming pool (travelator, bubbles inflatable, rollers or camel driver).
  • the second part is a play with the spinner.
  • the third part is the play of the questions which proceeds henceforth on Russian mountains.
  • the fourth part is a play with the young cow.
  • the fifth part is the wall of the champions (ex- Défi )

The points obtained with the wire of the plays are used from now on to go up on the tilted level in order to take lead to conclude the 3 relays. The team which finishes them in 1st gains the match and returns the following day to defy a new city and so on. The team which gains the match of Friday is selected for the final.

The final took place mid-August, this time in premium-time, always with the Europa Park. It was cut out in 2 distinct parts: - The first decided between the victorious cities so that there remain nothing any more but 2 about it. - The second proceeded normally with the two cities and they were decided between with the wall of the champions. Creusot gained the edition 2004.

But the assessment of this edition 2004 was mitigated. Correct audience for the access but average for the premium time. Moreover the formula was not at the point: too much repetitive, denatured… everyone had still at the head the version TF1.

For the summer 2005, France 2 does not lower the arms and returns to fundamental from the emission: itinerant and time precedes some. But still not on line. The emission is from now on coproduite by Mistral production and Air Productions, carried out by Didier Fraisse with the orders always Nagui, Patrice Laffont, Nathalie Simon which make his great return, Philippe Corti for musical environment and everlasting the Robert Wurtz and Olivier Alleman with the arbitration. The Simones are renamed the Cortisannes .

One finds the formula of the Nineties separately the final questions which disappear and the Défi which is used as final play. The formula takes and likes what makes it possible the emission to carry out very beautiful audiences in spite of a fierce competition. The final proceeds in the arenas of Arles and concluded by the victory from Saint Quentin. The emission cases especially near the children and is ensured to return the following year.

2006 were one year of hesitations for Intervilles . First of all for the chain, of France 2 with France 3 which was concluded only little from month before the first emission. But the largest difficulty was to find new organizers. Nathalie Simon was already acquired just as Robert Wurtz but Nagui, occupied by its daily new handset Everyone wants to take its place preferred to throw sponge.

The case of Patrice Laffont is very different. The organizer wished itself to continue the adventure and was already had a presentiment of to continue, but the new chain did not find it with its taste by considering it too old. After moultes hesitations, it was finally drawn aside from it, which always leaves him a bitter taste.

After several refusal of organizers (Patrick Sebastien, Anthony Kavanagh…) they are finally Julien Lepers and Tex which is chosen, to which come to be added Vanessa Dolmen which will deal with the red wire. Philippe Corti is announced at the last minute.

The first emission took place with the Touquet which received Saint-Quentin. Success is always with go; even if one is far from the audiences carried out on TF1 they are appropriate for France 3. The emission finds finally the direct one and is carried out by Didier Fraisse for the 3 first and Gilles Amado for the 6 others. The final took place in the arenas of Nimes in an adverse match Nimes with Mount-with-Marsan, the latter having gained it.

A variation except summer season was planned for the winter 2006 but was cancelled fault of time and… of money.

The season 2007 takes again the same team as the former season without great changes. It should be noted that Robert Wurtz will have ensured only the first 2 emissions, victim at the end of the second of an cerebral vascular accident which will oblige it to give up its station. It was replaced with the foot raised by its assistant Olivier Alleman until the end of the season. The first 5 emissions were carried out by Didier Fraisse and the 5 last by Laurent Daum.

August 27th, 2007, France television announces the return of Intervilles in 2008.

Derivative products

In 1964, Guy Lux and Leon Zitrone record a disc entitled “the tango of Intervilles” while turning in derision their characters.

In 1996, Pogs with the effigy of the emission were offered to the participating children like with gaining play audiotel.

In 2006 leaves a compilation gathering on 2 CD the best tubes summer as well as the original credits the emission and its remix sung by children and Robert Wurtz.

In 2007 leaves the official video game the emission at Mindscape .

Intervilles abroad

Intervilles is the most popular emission of French television. But it is also exported very well abroad. Several countries already adapted it: China in 1996, England ( It' S.A. Knockout, Simply the Best ), Germany ( Deutschland Champions ), Portugal ( Campeões Nacionais ), Spain ( Grand Prix ), Qatar, Vietnam, Morocco, the USA ( Almost Anything Goes ), the South Africa ( Summer Ranges )… Since December 22nd, 2006, the China diffuses Intervilles daily and carries out audiences with more than 300 million televiewers.

Mistral production organizes also international Intervilles in which took part China, Ukraine, France, Italy, Romania, Greece… Four editions were already turned to Martigues in 2005, Saint-Pierre (Meeting) and Holy-Maxime in 2006 and to the hippodrome of Cagnes-sur-Mer in September 2007 (In the latter were opposed China, Russia, the United States and Kazakhstan).
