Interstate

Interstate Aircraft and Engineering Corp was founded with El Segundo, California, in 1937. The only original product of this company was the monoplane with high wing two-seater Interstate S-1 Cadet. From 1943 Interstate will produce for USAAF and the US Navy of the machines without pilot derived from the Naval Aircraft Factory TDN. In 1945 the tools and the rights of production of the Interstate S-1 Cadet were repurchased by Harlow Aircraft Corp, which quickly resold them with Call Aircraft Company. In 1969 Ivan Ruell T.Call resold in its turn the rights of production of the S-1 Cadet to Bill Diehl, businessman of Anchorage, Alaska and founder of Arctic Aviation/Arctic Aircraft Co. Modernized the S-1 Cadet will be produced again of 1975 to 1985 by Arctic Co, but in 1985 Interstate Aircraft Co , from now on established with Lebanon, New Hampshire, repurchased the license of production and the tools of the Junior, become Arctic Tern!
