Interprofessional national office of the cognac

The interprofessional National office of the cognac (BNIC) is an interprofessional organization French invested public service missions. It gathers all the wine growers and all the traders of the area of production of the cognac.

The BNIC is an interprofessional organization as defined in the articles L 631 of the rural code. It is an establishment in private matter, financed by the professionals of the cognac (traders and wine growers). However, it is invested public service missions.

Its members are designated, paritairement, by the trade unions most representative of the families of the vine growing and the trade. A president is elected for five years.

The representation of the State is assured at the same time by an General inspector economic and financial, named by the ministry for Finances, and persons in charge of the various administrations concerned with Cognac (DGDDI, DGCCRF, DRAF, DDAF, ONIVINS, INAO…)

All the decisions concerning the life of the Cognac, under all its aspects, are made by the Plenary assembly, on a proposal from the Standing Committee, after consultation of Committees.

The various departments of the BNIC are charged to ensure the good execution of it.
