International university network of Geneva

The RUIG is a global area network of research, created by the Université of Geneva, the Academic institute of high international studies (IUHEI) and the Academic institute of studies of the development (IUED).

Composition and mission

In addition to the entities founders, several international organizations, in particular the Office of the the United Nations in Geneva and the International committee of the Red Cross, also took part significantly in the constitution of the network. The RUIG profits from the collaboration and the financial support of the Swiss Confédération (federal Department of the interior) and of the République and Canton of Geneva (Department of the state education).

The mission of the RUIG mainly consists in making interact academic institutions and International organizations - governmental or non-governmental - in order to promote the role of Geneva international and the Suisse to the service of peace and justice. One of specificities of the RUIG is to encourage research programs and of formation directed towards the action, by privileging the following topics: the Sustainable development, social relations equitable, the Universalization and the International business, the dialog and reports/ratios intercultural, humanitarian right and the Human rights.

The RUIG financially supports projects undertaken by multi-field teams, made up representatives coming from the academic world and the international organizations.

Organization

The RUIG is a foundation, directed by a council of foundation which gathers in its center of the personalities named by the various partners as well as representatives of international organizations, other academic institutions and private sector. The council of foundation acts in particular through two bodies, the office and the scientific committee. The executive secretariat ensures the current management of the Foundation just as coordination between the various partners.
