History of International Socialism
Socialisme International (France) is a small organization being characterized by its design from the ex- the USSR, Cuba and the Eastern European countries, considered not Communists but as a new form of capitalism, a Capitalisme of State. The current of which it forms part was known, during the cold war, for its slogan: “Neither Washington, nor Moscow but capacity with the workers and the international Socialism”.The theory founder is that of Tony Cliff, trotskyste Jewish Palestinian bench in Great Britain in the years 1940. In the years 1950-1980, its organization, International Socialists, which becomes later the Socialist Workers Party could become the principal organization of the extreme left in this country.
As from the years 1970, organizations sisters were founded in about thirty country.
Separately the theory of the capitalism of State, the tendency is characterized by its explanation of the great economic boom of the glorious Thirty (the theory of the permanent economy of the armaments), and the explanation of the particular nature of the revolutions anticoloniales in the Tiers-monde (theory of the deviated Permanent revolution).
It is also characterized by its opinion that the Islamophobie became one of the most important forms of racism and that a common work with Muslim organizations is possible and even desirable, which was worth to him criticisms of other components of the left. It recently put this policy in practice with a certain success, in particular in Great Britain within the framework of the Stop the War Coalition (coalition of organizations being opposed to the policy of the United States and Great Britain in Iraq and Afghanistan) and of RESPECT The Unity Coalition (organization which introduces candidates to the local elections and main roads to which belongs the deputy anti-war and pro-Palestinian to the British Parliament, George Galloway).
The analysis of the role of the trade-union directions also does one of specificities of this tendency. The stress is laid on the specific interests of the trade union leaders as a social layer of professional negotiators, interests which weigh often more heavily than their declared ideology.
International socialism in France
In France, the organization is founded in 1984 by a handle of militants. Its activism and its political analyzes attract new militants, in particular young people, and it slowly increases its manpower, which will be 150 in 1996. It publishes a monthly magazine, Socialisme International. It is one of the rare organizations of the Marxist left to stress the fight against the ideas and the manifestations of Front National as of the middle of the years 1980.In 1997, a scission - whose political bases appear not very clear - gives place after several adventures to the organization Socialisme by in bottom (SPEB), which is supported by the direction of the Socialist Workers Party in Great Britain.
Socialisme International (SI) continues, publishes some numbers of a review, Socialisme by in bottom , before launching monthly magazine, Gauche! , which will be finally replaced by quarterly, International Socialisme . Its direction on several occasions proposes discussions with that of Socialism by in bottom in order to reunifying the current in France SO, but without success. In the 2002, SO just Communist revolutionary league as a current of this organization.
Members of IF imply themselves in the construction of the antilibéraux United collectives resulting from the Collectives for “Not” to the European Constitutional treaty at the time of the referendum of 2005. They were active in the countryside against the prohibition of the " scarf islamique" at the school (law of March 2004) through in particular the Collective of the feminists for the equality, and publicly fight the influence of the ideas islamophobes, including among the militants of left. They supported actively the countryside of Jose Bove, candidate of part of the Gauche antilibérale at the time of the presidential ones of 2007.
Socialisme International does not form part of an international organization, but has abstract bonds with International Socialist Organization (ISO) in the United States and Socialist Alternative in Australia, both of the independent organizations not forming part of International Socialist Tendency (IST) animated by the British SWP.
