International meetings of documentary of Montreal

The international meetings of documentary of Montréal' were created in 1998 by scenario writers documentarists which wanted to offer to this kind a platform of diffusion but also a platform making it possible to engage the dialog between the professionals and the public around the topics approached by the authors, of the creative processes and the conditions of this cinematographic practice. It is an event of international scale which seeks to be dissociated by the quality of its selection and the accompaniment of works that he proposes in the report/ratio with the public. The RIDM in particular seek to reinforce its bonds in the Francophonie and to be established like an important pole of documentary in North America, professional bond with the Europe and a constant opening on the rest of the world.

The festival proposes programming of Film S and activities (debates, roundtables) for the general public, the professionals and the partners, in order to give the documentary one in the middle of our cultural social life and . It privileges the public exchanges between the various partners of creation, the production and the documentary distribution. Lastly, it offers to the télédiffuseurs and to the foreign distributers a window of the production documentary to support a broader diffusion of works to the national scales and international; it is a platform for the independent documentary production, a platform of diffusion and setting in network for the documentary medium, its professional partners and the general public.

For two years, the RIDM have also proposed activities of diffusion and workshops throughout the year.
