International institute of sociology of the right
the international institute of sociology of the right (IISL, for International Institute for the Sociology off Law) located at Oñati is the only international agency having for object the Sociologie Droit and, more generally, the questions touching with the right and the company.
History
The IISL is a joint creation of the Comité of search for sociology of the right and government of the Basque autonomous region, in Spain. Created in 1989, it is located in the Antigua Universidad del Pais Vasco (the old university of the Basque Country) at Oñati.
The founder and first director, Andre-Jean Arnaud, made place on the walls of the building rebirth which shelters the institute of the bronze plates which point out the founders of the sociology of the modern right: Montesquieu, Henry James Sumner Maine, Francisco Giner of los Ríos, Henri Levy-Bruhl, Achilles Loria, Leon Petrażycki, Emile Durkheim, max Weber, Eugen Ehrlich, Karl Renner, Karl NR. Llewellyn, Theodor Geiger, Georges Gurvitch, Nicholas A. Timasheff.
The IISL has four official languages, English, French, Spanish and the Basque. It shelters splendid a Bibliothèque and an information center which cover the sociojuridical literature in many languages. The institute organizes conferences and a program of teaching, international Master of sociology of the right. Works resulting from the conferences are regularly published in various collections, in English and Spanish.
