International festival of the cinemas of Asia
The international festival of the cinemas of Asia of Vesoul was created in 1995. The purpose of it is to present films of all the continent of Asia, of the Close relation to Far East.
Each year, it presents 70 films which are declined in six sections:
- Faces of the Cinemas of Asia Contemporains which makes it possible to discover the most recent films in first international, European or French,
- a section set of themes whose topic changes each year,
- One or more homages or glances on the cinematography of a country,
- a section Jeune Public
- a Documentaires section.
17 films are in competition (feature-length films of fiction and documentary).
Several prices are decreed: The Cyclo gold and the Grand Prix of the Jury by an international jury, the price Emile Guimet by the jury of the Museum Guimet of Paris, the Price Langues' O by the jury INALCO, Price NETPAC (Network for the promotion off Asian Cinema) by a jury NETPAC, the Price of the Young Juries by a jury made up of young spectators and the Price of the public.
Extremely of its thirteen editions, this festival, carried by a voluntary team around Martine and Jean-Marc Thérouanne, was acquired a particular reputation among the cinematographic festivals. The user-friendliness and the heat of the reception vésulien that it is in the rooms of the " Majestic" , with the theater Edwige Feuillère or with the " Bambouseraie" surprise to the largest realizers come from the Middle East or the Far East.
