International festival of film of district

The International festival of film of district (FIFQ) is a cultural event which takes place each year in December with Dakar (Senegal), in fact a window of the best sénégalaises productions in the field of the cinema, television and the multi-media one.

History

The festival was created in 1999.

In the beginning it was a question above all of showing the productions of the trainees of the Media Centers of Dakar (MCD). It is today a springboard for the young realizers.

Organization

Projections take place in various places of the city, for example with the French Institut Léopold Sédar Senghor or in restaurants.

The denomination of the price decreed in each category is l'" Ébène". The young director Dyana Gaye thus gained the Ebony of best film for her short film Deweneti at the time of the 8th edition of the festival in 2006.

The edition 2007 will be sponsored by the scenario writer Moussa Senna Absa.
