International festival of film of Amiens

The International festival of film of Amiens , organized since 1980 in the regional capital of the Picardy, acquired an unquestionable fame and enjoys a particular popular passion.

If the Festival amiénois is with its 27e edition in November 2007, the wording changed some since the origin - success obliges! - all while practically keeping some the same spirit.

History

The initiators were a group of young people, students (but not in cinema), film enthusiasts and impassioned for a cinema rather militant - even very committed - who, frustrated by the limits of the programming of the rooms commercial and wishing to give broadth to their film consumption to the film club of the campus (at the time the “ lecture theater 600 ”, with the Anglo-Saxon film club) and with association “ Movies-fights ” (monthly meetings Place Dewailly), had published for several years a small local assessment diffused almost exclusively on the student's spot (faculties, restaurants and residence halls) and by subscription.

It is with the wire of the successive numbers of “ Movies-critical ”, and after some episodes animated by a sustained pressure (sometimes considered to be too provocative then by a passive, traditional or family public, seeing in the cinema only pure relaxation) near the directors of local commercial rooms to require a minimum of respect of the spectators (Mise at the point worthy of this name on the screen, stop of sales of sugar refineries and ices at the beginning of projection of the " large film" , not-opening of the lights of the rooms before the end of projection), that the names of Jean-Pierre Marcos, Jean-Pierre Bergeon, Gilles Laprévotte, etc emerged on the cultural scene amiénoise.
