International federation of the action of the Christians for the abolition of torture

The International federation of the ACAT (Action of the Christians for the Abolition of Torture) , Governmental organization founded in 1987, acts for all those which are tortured, held under inhuman conditions, condemned to death, or which disappeared whatever their origins, political opinions or religious beliefs.

It contributes to make live the network ACAT present on 4 continents by supporting the exchanges between the various groups, by proposing common actions or campaigns, as well as regional or international formations.

It also has the role of representing them in regional International agencies and (in particular the the United Nations, the European Union, the the Council of Europe, Francophonie or African Commission of the Human rights and People) auprès of which it has a advisory statute , or in Coalitions of which it is member.

FIACAT works in close cooperation with other ONG of defense of the human rights like with religious Churches and congregations.
