The International federation of Bobsleigh and tobogganing (shortened FIBT) is an association of national federations having for goal to develop the Bobsleigh and the Skeleton to organize international competitions on a worldwide scale and there. It is the directing body of these two sports.
It was founded in 1923.
In the middle of the years 1980, it decided to create a world cup to make it possible to give a new dimension to the discipline, indeed only the Winter Olympics, the championships of the world and Europe offer a window to this sport and a recognition with the actors. In 1999, it brawled successfully to make it possible the skeleton to appear in the programs of OJ starting from 2002.
60 national federations are sharp.
