International federation of associations of librarians and institutions
The International federation of associations of librarians and institutions (FIAB) , more known under its Sigle English of IFLA ( I nternational F ederation off L ibrary has ssociations and Institutions) is an international federation of associations representing the interests of the Bibliothèque S, the services of information and their users.
The IFLA was founded with Edinburgh (Scotland), in 1927, at the time of an International Conference. The federation counts 1 700 members in 150 countries, it is lodged by the royal Bibliothèque of the Netherlands, located at $the Hague.
The IFLA is member of the International Freedom off Expression Exchange (IFEX), a world network virtual of ONG which supervises the violations with the freedom of expression and which organizes, federates or relays the campaigns joint or organized by its members, for the defense of the journalists, writers and other persecuted people whereas they exert their right to freedom of expression.
