The International counsel of files (the CIA) is a international Governmental organization devoted to the Archives created in 1948.
Gathering in the beginning the persons in charge of the central Files of the State of the large developed countries, it opened little by little with representatives of all the service types of files, pertaining to the majority of the countries of the world. Professional associations of archivists can also be members about it, as well as archivists with in an individual capacity.
Its objectives are to promote safeguarding, the development and the use of the world inheritance archivistic. It is divided into sections, corresponding to various service types of files (files of the cities, the Parliaments, the companies, the universities, the international organizations, etc) or of funds of files (solicitors records, files of the sport, etc), and in regional branches.
Its seat is in Paris, street of the Middle-class Francs, in the buildings of the Public records. Its two principal bodies of information are the re-examined Comma and an Internet site.
