International communist movement

This article treats only organizations subjected politically and financially to the USSR. For other structures, anti-Stalinist, to see: international communist Opposition, international revolutionary Marxist Center, Fourth International, Left Communist, etc

The “ international communist movement ” represents will of the political, ideological unification of the Communist parties, beyond the official borders, under a centralizing institutional organization, directed since Moscow.

Stages of the change of the international communist movement

The Comintern (1919 - 1943)

The Comintern (Russian contraction of International Communist) or “IIIe Internationale” is the first institutional structure of the international communist movement. Directed by the Communist party of the Soviet Union and Stalin, the Comintern gathered the Communist parties having broken with the socialist parties. This structure is very centralized and treated on a hierarchical basis.

The Comintern east dissolves in 1943 in order not to oppose the allies of the the USSR at the time of the Second world war.

Controlled and directed autonomy (1943 - 1947)

During the Second world war the Communist parties privilege the patriotic and national aspect. For as much, piloting from Moscow remains omnipresent.

Cominform (1947 - 1956)

The Kominform (Russian contraction of office of information ) is the organization which, in a context of Cold war, will fight the American imperialism. Very Stalinist structure, Cominform is very centralized, but really does not have institutions, thus consolidating its image of organization in the shade.

Cominform will not really any more have of existence starting from the death of Stalin in 1953.

World conferences of the Communist parties (1957 - 1969)

The cycle of the world conferences of the PC represents a more flexible form of organization of international Communism which gather between 60 and 80 PC. The conferences proceed in Moscow, but PCUS loses more and more influence on the movement. Indeed, the Asian PC, led by the Chinese Communist party, leave it since 1965.
