International association of the sociologists of French language
Founded with Brussels in 1958, on the initiative of Georges Gurvitch and Henri Janne, the International association of the sociologists of French language (AISLF), according to the first article of its statutes, “gathers sociologists and other specialists in social sciences giving a sociological orientation to their work, whatever their nationality, provided that they use French, for a notable share, in their scientific activity”. With its creation, it gathered the researchers in favor of a sociology anxious to take part in the emancipation of the individuals and groups.
This association is given like objective to stimulate the international exchanges within French-speaking spaces pluriculturels.
The AISLF is a collective member of the International association of sociology.
The AISLF counts, fine 2004, nearly 1.500 members originating in fifty-nine countries (French-speaking or not).
Its site gives the list of the members, the subjects of study of its fifty work groups and announces the conferences regularly.
Since 2006, the AISLF publishes the review in line SociologieS.
