International association of mineralogy

The International association of mineralogy ( IMA for International Mineralogy Association ), member of the International union of geological sciences (IUGS), was created in 1958 like non-profit organization. Its main mission is to promote the international cooperation in the mineralogical sciences and to reinforce the presence of the mineralogical community among the international groups dealing with the Sciences of the ground.

The activities of the IMA are regulated by its statutes. The eight commissions, the five work groups and the committee of the IMA are implied in a large range of mineralogical initiatives of direct interest for the governments, industries and the universities. The Council of the IMA meets each year parallel to an international meeting. Advisers and persons in charge of the work groups of the commissions are elected during the preparatory meeting of the general meeting of the IMA, which is held every four years.

The IMA informs regularly of its national companies activities and mineralogical groups which support it through reports/ratios and bulletin.
