International association of Congo
The International association of Congo (in aggregate AIC) was an association created the November 17th 1879 by Léopold II of Belgium starting from the Study committee of High-Congo. Association was dissolved in 1885 and its structures taken again by the State independent of Congo.
Association was chaired by Colonel Maximilien Strauch.

… The April 10th 1884, the American president was authorized by the Senate “to recognize the flag of the International association of Congo to equal of that of a friendly government”. The November 8th 1884, the Germany recognized for its part the sovereignty of the International association.
