International airport Martinique Aime Césaire

The international airport Martinique Aime Césaire , is located on the territory of the commune of the Lamentin at 12 km at the south of Fort-de-France in Martinique.

  • on December 17th, 1965, a ministerial decree grants to the C.C.I.M. (Chamber of commerce and of industry of Martinique) the concession, the installation and the commercial exploitation of the airport for one 30 years duration with a personnel of 70 agents classified in three categories: administrative staff, working and personal personnel of safety.

He was renamed in the honor of Aimé Césaire (Born in 1913), poet and politician of Martinique.

  • Dated January 15th, 2007, by decree of the Minister for transport, the equipment, tourism and the sea, Dominique Perben, the airport of Fort-de-France - Lamentin is officially called Aéroport Martinique - Aime Césaire.

It has only one 3.300 meters long track and broad, its orientation 45 meters is 09/27 and its coating is made out of bitumen. The airport has only one terminal containing 5 stations with footbridge and 10 except footbridge. The air terminal has a surface of 24.000 m and with as parking space 135.000 Mr. It is equipped with systems of radionavigation VOR and THEY (instrument landing).
