International Seedling Names Index
The International Seedling Names Index (IPNI) is a Database on the names of the plants which also provides bibliographical indications on the Spermaphyte S. Its goal is to eliminate the need to repeat, in the scientific publications, of information on the various denominations of the species. The data gathered freely accessible and gradually are standardized and checked.
This index is not yet complete and it includes/understands mis-spellt names. It includes names of species, S and S. For the recent names, it includes also names of taxed infraspecific.
The abbreviations of the authors are also standardized and follow the book of Brummitt and Powell, Authors off Seedling Names (1992).
IPNI is resulting from collaboration between three institutions: the royal Botanical gardens of Kew, the Herbarium of the University Harvard and the Australian national Herbarium.
