International Mobile Subscriber Identity

The International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) is a single number, which allows a network GSM or UMTS to identify a user. This number is stored in the chart SIM respectively USIM and is not known of the user. To reach this one, one will provide him a number MSISDN.

Format

The format of the IMSI follows the plan of standard classification E.212 of UIT and is in the following way made up:

  • MCC or Mobile Country Codes. It is the code of the country of origin (example, 228 for Switzerland, 208 for France,…)
  • MNC or Mobile Network Codes. It is the code of the Opérateur network (01 for Swisscom Mobile, 02 for Sunrise, 03 for Orange,…)

  • MSIN or Mobile Subscriber Number Identification. It is the number of the subscriber inside network GSM

    • H1 H2 (2 digits) can be used to give the address of HLR of the corresponding subscriber.
