International Dana

Dana International is the pseudonym of the Israeli pop singer and transsexual Sharon Cohen (born Yaron Cohen the February 2nd 1972).

Operated in 1992 for a modification of sex, it gained the Concours Eurovision of the song in 1998 with the song “Diva”.

Career

It is in 1992 that Sharon Cohen makes her appearance in the Israeli musical landscape. Launched by Offer Nissim, a DJ sails about it, their collaboration is paved success. Their first individual, Sa' Ida Sultana , is a somewhat arranged resumption of My name is not Susan of Whitney Houston. This title gains an immediate success in Israel as with the the United States where it will be classified even in the charts clubs.

The second individual one baptized Dana International , will stick so much to the skin of Sharon that it will make its pseudo final (one found only " Danna" on the first discs). The second album of Dana, Umpatampa, leaves in 1994. It will be its greater success to date and it will gain the title of the female artist of the year in Israel. The following year Dana tries the Israeli preselection for the Concours Eurovision of the song, it will finish only second with the song Layla tov, Eropa . In 2000 Dana deals with promoting its album in Russia and with the Japan before taking again the way of the studios of recording. In 2001 leaves Yoter ve yoter, made up this time without complicity of Offer Nissim which followed it since its beginnings. A page is turned and Dana takes a new musical direction. In 2002 the album Ha' chalom ha' efshari leaves.

In 2005 one could see Dana with the 50 years special program of the Eurovision equipped by Jean-Paul Gaultier, and since it works on a new album which should leave in August 2007.

The first titles of the album of 2007 are available on the official site and are entitled " Hakol zé létova" , " all is for the mieux" and " Coil Boy" in Hebrew, they are as of their exit a sharp success in Israel and the world Juif.
