International Conferences at the time of the Cold war
From 1947, many International Conferences between the great powers took place in order to regulate the problems of the Cold war.
These conferences are registered after the cycle of the interallied Conférences at the time of the Second world war.
Conferences on the German problem
The purpose of those were to regulate the statute of the principal European loser of the war. Nevertheless this problem a long time will remain thorny.
The conference of Moscow of 1947
It was held of the 10 with the April 25th 1947 and brought together the Foreign Ministers of the " Quatre" : the United States, Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and France. This conference will be a failure, the powers not managing to find a consensus on the statute of the occupied Germany, thus marking the end of the co-operation between the old allies.
The conference of London of 1947
It joined together same actors as that of Moscow. This " conference of the last chance" be completed in December 1947 on a new failure of the " Quatre" to regulate the German problem.
Conferences of London of 1948
These two conferences relate to only the three countries which control Western Germany: The United States, the United Kingdom and France.The first, which proceeded February 23rd with the March 6th 1948, ends in a failure because of proud attitude of France, which conditions its agreement with the problem of the Saar.
The second takes again the April 20th and concluded on June 1st on an agreement from prinicpe for the organization of Western Germany: a constituent Assembly would be elected. The international Autorité of the Ruhr will control the area and will make sure of its demilitarization.
The conference of Warsaw of 1948
This held conference the June 24th 1948 gathers only the Foreign Ministers of the Soviet block. The participants criticize measurements of June 1st highly, at the time of the conference of London, about Western Germany.This same day and partly for the same reasons, will be issued the Blocus of Berlin.
Conference of Paris of 1949
Being held May 23rd with the June 11th 1949, it gathers the Foreign Ministers of the " Quatre" , about Germany, without leading to an agreement.
Conference of the Westerners in Paris in 1949
The November 9th 1949, the Foreign Ministers of the 3 western powers proclaim their will to integrate the the Federal Republic of Germany in the Western block, in particular in NATO.
Conferences of the Peaceful coexistence
The International Conferences which follow one another mark the resumption of the dialog and the application of the " coexistence pacifique".
Conference of Berlin of 1954
Organized on the initiative of Winston Churchill, it was held from January 25th to February 28th, 1954. The Foreign Ministers of the countries administrators of Germany find themselves there. But the discussions lead to a new failure on the search for an agreement between the " Quatre" about the statute of Germany and Austria. However, they are intended to organize the continuations of the armistice in Korea.
Conference of Geneva of 1954
It is held from April 26th to July 21st, 1954, in which takes part of the representatives of the United States, of the USSR, of the United Kingdom, of France and China.The question of the Indo-China there is settled, after long discussions between the French and the Vietminh, and leads to the signature of the Accords of Geneva. However, one in addition notes the impossibility of a Korean reunification.
Conferences of Geneva of 1955
From the 18 with the July 23rd 1955, the US president Eisenhower, Soviet Nikita Khrouchtchev, English Anthony Eden and the President of the Council French Edgar Faure meet (for the first time since the war) on the question of the German reunification. It is a new failure.Following this first conference, the Foreign Ministers of the Four, American John Foster Dulles, French Antoine Pinay, the British Mac Milan and Russian Molotov meet from October 27th to November 16th, 1955. They do not find an area of agreement and the problem of German division still does not find a solution.
Conference of Geneva of 1959
It brings together this time the Foreign Ministers of the Four, from May 11th to June 20th, 1959. It leads again to a failure on the question of the statute of Berlin.
Conference of Paris of 1960
Summit conference, in May 1960, between the four countries administrators of Berlin. It fails following the business of the American spy plane Lockheed U-2 cut down in Russia.
Conferences of the Movement of non-aligned the
Asian conference of New Delhi of 1947
This conference joins together 25 Asian countries. One of course condemns to it colonization but also the domination of the worldwide economy by the western powers. It is the first attempt to give an identity so that Alfred Sauvy baptizes in 1952 under the name of " Third world ".
Asian conference of New Delhi of 1949
In 1949, Egypt and Ethiopia join the " 25" , giving rise to " the afro-asiatisme".
Conference of Bandung of 1955
On the initiative of the Group of Colombo, a broader conference and with the firmer speech is taken place in Indonesia from April 18th to 24th 1955. It aims to show the will of the Afro-Asian countries to remain with the variation of the competition of the blocks and to affirm their independence in the international relations. This conference strikes by the number of countries present and especially by the fact that neither the United States, nor Russia is present: real assertion of volontée of independence of the " non" alignés".
Conference of the Cairo of 1957
It is held starting from December 26th and takes again the released political line with Bandung.
Conference of Belgrade of 1961
That Ci will reaffirm the concept of " Non-alignment " , on the assimilation of the nonAfro-Asian poor countries in the movement third-mondiste.
Conference tricontinentale of Havana of 1966
It is held from January 3rd to 15th 1966 and gathers the nonaligned countries of the South American, African and Asian continents.
