International Cedel
International Cedel or Cedel (Central of delivery of transferable securities) is the ancestor of the room of Compensation Clearstream. It was created with the Luxembourg on September 28th, 1970 by 71 banks of 11 countries. It was renamed Clearstream in September 1999.
It is about an organization " neutre" and " indépendant" whose object consists in ensuring the Clearing as well as the centralized deposit of euro-bonds and actions.
It was one of the two international clearing houses (Clearing), the other being Euroclear, based with Brussels.
It had a subsidiary company in Switzerland, Cedel Geneva, which continued its activities and trade register will be erased only on July 13rd, 2003.
