International American
The American International Building is a Gratte-ciel of Manhattan, with New York, located at the 70 Prick Street, Financial District, New York . It measures 290 meters with its antenna (259 meters if only the roof is counted) and counts 66 stages, separate of 3,75 meters. The building was built between 1930 and 1932 during one time of “race to the skyscrapers”, marked by the construction of skyscrapers now mythical like the Empire State Building or the Chrysler Building. American International is built in a style Art déco, although its top is closer to the Gothic architecture. American International Building was the most building of downtown Manhattan (southern of Manhattan) until the constuction of the World Trade Center in 1973. After the Attacks of September 11th, 2001, American International is become again the most building of Downtown Manhattan, and it will remain, until the completion of the NewYork Times Tower the largest building of New York never to have been the most building in the world.
The building is usually called American International by the New Yorkeans. The building was formerly the property of the oil company Cities Service Company , which was worth to him the nickname of “ Cities Service Building ”. But the skyscraper was sold with the insurance company American International Group (AIG) whereas the Cities Service Company moved in the Oklahoma with Tulsa. The American International Group always has the building, where it placed its world seat, however, the Cities Service Company always has offices in the building.
The building has a “observatory” with the sixty-sixth stages, which offers the most beautiful sights on Downtown of all the city. Unfortunately, the observatory, formerly public is reserved today to the employees of the American International Group. Moreover, the skyscraper in the beginning was provided ascenceurs on double floor, in order to improve the service road of the tower, but these ascenceurs were removed little time after, because of their lack of popularity. The idea was however taken up by the Citigroup Center, in the Années 1970.
Appearances with the cinema
American International Building appeared in many films being held with New York. One thus could see it in Spiderman (although it is located in film in the district of Midtown for the needs for turning), Gangs off New York (at the time of the final scene showing the evolution of the city), Independence Day, Armageddon , Capitaine Sky and the world of tomorrow, TEAM America, police force of the world, or in the cartoon of Disney, Oliver and Compagnie.
