Intermittent fountain of Fontestorbes
It is about a gross Résurgence located in Ariège on the commune of Bélesta, with approximately one kilometer of the village. It is presented in the form of a monumental porch open in cliff limiting to North the plate of Sault and from where a torrent emerges which throws in the Hers-Sharp out of Right Bank with 50 meters from there. It draws its abundant water from the hiding of rainwater fallen on the Plateau from Sault, but also of the losses of the brooks of the Ourza and the Basqui descended from the solid mass of Tabe.
In period of low waters, usually from July to October, this resurgence present of the intermittencies to which it must be a rather known tourist site. During each intermittency, one one hour almost completely duration variable but close, the fountain is drained (minimal flow ranging between 0,02 and 0,2 m ³ /s), then goes back to a maximum flow (1,6 to 1,8 m ³ /s).
The remainder of the year, the fountain runs systematically and especially, it is the most important affluent of Hers-Sharp in term of flow, right in front of the Touyre whose module is weaker of 0,03 m ³ /s.
Drained surface (or catchment area) covers a surface of 85 km ².
