Interior Gateway Routing Protocol
Interior Gateway Routing Protocol ( IGRP ) is a protocol of Routage of the type IGP Distance-vector created by Cisco and used by the Routeur S to exchange their tables of routing in a autonomous Système.
IGRP was created partly to cure the limitations of RIP when it is used in wide-area networks. IGRP allows Métrique S multiples for each road, by including the Band-width, the load, the time, MTU, and reliability; to compare 2 roads these metric is combined in only one, by using an adjustable formula. The maximum number of " hop" for the packages roads in IGRP is of 255.
Its successor is EIGRP which brings functionalities of Diffusing Update Algorithm (DUAL) to IGRP.
