Interdisciplinary university of Paris

The interdisciplinary Université of Paris (UIP) is a Association founded law of 1901 in 1995 under the impulse of Jean Staune, General secretary, and Jean-François Lambert, President. The Interdisciplinary University of Paris has the role the diffusion and meets knowledge, in the fields of the Science, the Philosophie, different the Tradition S from humanity, the economy and the Management in order to show their implications on the evolution of the company.

Structure and teaching of the UIP

The UIP is an association gathering about fifty members which organizes courses of the evening regularly. In parallel, it coordinates several research programs in France and with international around the topic of “Science and Religion” financed by the Foundation Templeton (E. - U.).

In spite of its name the UIP is not a university of the type “EPCSCP” as defined by the Loi Savary (1984) and is thus not recognized by the Ministère of Higher education and Research.

DEBATEs and controversies

On the relationship between science and the faith

Many members of the scientific advice of the UIP profess a religious faith without this one not interfering with their vocations of researchers scientist. They fit mainly in a traditional tradition of scientific research, rejecting a priori any concept of Concordisme, while accepting the possibility of a constructive dialog between science and faith.

On the other hand, one of the principal administrators of the UIP, the general secretary, Jean Staune, preaches a narrow bringing together between science and faith what caused an unfavourable criticism on behalf of certain media (see below).
