Means

The organizations of studies and research like INRETS, LCPC, SETRA and CERTU contribute to the production of accident statistics. The primary source remains the file accident BAAC (Bulletin of Analysis of Personal Injuries) existing since 1960. A project of modernization of this process is in hand, because this information source appears not very reliable; resections with other sources proves it. Indeed, in 50% of the cases an error of 100 meters of the place where really the accident occurred is raised. In 39% of the cases it is an error of one kilometer, in this file in particular charged to trace the places at the risks (black spots).

Projects

Large the project of the Observatory are:

  • development of the indicators of local accidentology at the level of the cities and the departments;
  • good knowledge the speeds practiced on the French network via the automated stations (SIREDO) already charged to quantify the traffic;
  • exploitation of the file of the driving licenses to analyze the behavior of the drivers at the risk.
