Inter Coetera

Inter Coetera is a pontifical Bulle emitted by the pope Alexandre VI, the May 4th 1493. This bubble gave to the Spain all the grounds in the west and the south of a Méridien with 100 places (418 km) in the west or the south of all the islands of the the Azores and Cape Verde, (either with 36°8' W). Already in the bubble Aeterni governed the pope had given to the Portugal all the territories of the Africa. The Treated of Tordesillas between the Spain and the Portugal in 1494 changed a little the line of demarcation, with 39°53' W.

In 1533 the king of France François Ier asked for to the pope Clément VII of change the bubble in favor of the France. The pope thus specified that the bubble affects only the occupied territories by the Spain or the Portugal. All the not-occupied new grounds can be claimed by others Christian monarchs .
