InterContinental is a chain of hotels of luxury which belongs to the group InterContinental Hotels Group. In 2005, 200 hotels in 75 countries carry the InterContinental mark.
It is in 1946 that the first InterContinental hotel opens, with the Brésil. Intercontinental was created on the initiative of Pan American Airlines which considered that there did not exist hotels of sufficient standing in many its destinations.
Intercontinental was repurchased by Bass Hotels & Resorts (renamed since InterContinental Group Hotels) in 1998.
