Intel i860

The Intel i860 ( i860 says also 80860 , code name N10 ) is a Microprocesseur RISC of Intel, launched in 1989.

The i860 is the first to propose an architecture and a Instruction set ( ISA, Instruction Set Structures ) completely new, since the failure of the iAPX 432 with the beginning of the year 1980. Launched in brass band, it masks the i960, however technically better. The i860 did not arrive however at becoming popular. The manufacture of this processor was stopped following disappointing commercial results.

L INTEL i860XP were used on Geometry Engine of the system Reality Engine 1 and 2 manufactured by silicon graphics and used on the Onyx stations. from 10 12 I860XP have was in action in parallel configuration
