Integral Fiber Links

One calls a Integral Fiber Unit (Unit of integral fibers) an optical apparatus which is placed in the focal plan of a Télescope, and which makes it possible to obtain at exit fiberoptics luminous flow coming from an any small portion of the coverage by the IFU. The advantage of the IFU lies in the possibility of directing the luminous flow of fibers towards a Spectrographe and thus of obtaining spectra of an extended zone, by keeping a very space good resolution (what usually the use of a normal spectrograph destroys).
