Intamin AG
Intamin AG , usually shortened Intamin , is a company of design and construction of Russian Montagnes and other attractions with strong feelings. It is also known, with less measurement, in the public transport as manufacturer of Monorail S. His head office is with Wollerau, in Suisse.
Offering more than 22 various styles of horse-gears distributed in many amusement parks, Intamin is a major actor in the industry of the recreation.
In addition to the Russian mountains, Intamin also created some of most imposing the large wheels and of most the horse-gears in freefall of the world. Intamin proposes also various types of turns of observation and develops the technology of the Flight simulator.
Achievements
The first Russian mountains built by engineers d' Intamin were Junior Gemini , a horse-gear for children with Cedar Point with the E. - U.. Since, they installed more than 70 Russian mountains in several countries of the sphere. They are also the inventors and manufacturers of very first the River Rapids Ride, a watery horse-gear in which the passengers evolve/move in artificial rapids on board circular boats.Russian mountains with Propulsion
Intamin AG is recognized to be very creative and innovating in the design of its horse-gear S. It is among the first to create a system of magnetic Propulsion for the trains (the Linear induction motor ) and tends to being one of the only significant companies to still using this technology on its Russian mountains.
Intamin also created the first hydraulic system of Propulsion (also called Rocket Coaster ). This process is used to catapult the train of Russian mountains from 0 to 193 km/h in a few seconds for then making him climb vertiginous heights on an angle ultra delivery. The Kingda Ka of Intamin, highest and faster Russian mountains of the world, use this last technology and propel the train to 139 Mètre S height, at a speed of 206 km/h.
Méga Coaster, Giga Coaster and Strata Coaster
The company is distinguished from the other companies of Russian engineers of mountains for their solid masses horse-gears scrapes-ciels: the méga Russian mountains (with the top of 200 feet, 61 Meter S), the giga Russian mountains (with the top of 300 feet, 91 Meter S) and the strata Russian mountains (with the top of 400 feet, 122 Meter S).
There exist only two to date Strata Coasters , the Top Thrill Dragster and the Kingda Ka; these two Russian mountains are manufactured by Intamin AG. These two horse-gears are acclaimed by the enthusiastic ones for their large combat with the gravitational force. Top Thrill Dragster rather uses bars of retention to the hips than of the abdominal harnesses to allow to the passenger a great comfort and a freedom of movement in the top of the body.
Russian mountains of Wood " Plug and Play"
Intamin also recently developed a very new type of Russian mountains out of wooden with their model Plug and Play (Connect and Leave). Traditionally, for the construction of a horse-gear out of wooden, the frame is set up on the spot and one builds on the latter the rails progressively. The model of Intamin uses prefabricated rails machines some that one assembles with the frame on the spot.
Of this model, one finds Russian mountains like Balder with Liseberg, Collosos with Heide Park and El Toro with Six Flags Great Adventure.
Connections with Bolliger & Mabillard
Giovanola , which was closely related to Intamin AG, is the company where two engineers Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard began which founded their own company thereafter, Bolliger & Mabillard. Besides there exist several similarities between the two companies. The style of design of the Rails used by B&M (external tubular rails on carrying out of prism supported by broad cylindrical pillars) was indeed used in a good number of Russian mountains Intamin, before the latter does not change for rails of style “triangular or rectangular prisms”.
Design
First Generation
Like known as above, the company has, in the first times, used the design of tubular Rails taken again by B&M. These rails are connected interior to carrying in the shape of prism by thin trapezoidal steel plates. The carrying one is slightly in lower part of the pair of rails and supported by broad cylindrical pillars.
Second Generation
The second generation of rails Intamin AG was used to set up the majority of the Russian mountains which make the great fame of the company. The wheels of the Intamin trains encase outside the tubular Rails. These rails are connected interior to a carrying structure made up of many through metal forming a rectangular or triangular prism. The carrying one is on the same level as the pair of rails and supported by broad cylindrical pillars or three-dimensional scaffolding composed of intersected beams.According to the forces undergone by the structure at the time of the passage of the train, certain sections of the course are composed with the rectangular model whereas others are largely served by the triangular model. Thus, one can at the same time find on the same horse-gear these two designs of rails.
Intamin designs a model even more simplified of this type of rails for the horse-gears with smaller scale or for sections undergoing only very few forces. They are not whereas two tubular rails connected to each other by through, but without carrying out of prism.
Other activities
In addition to its activities in the Russian mountains, Intamin also builds monorails dedicated to public transport.
