Insurrection of September 23rd, 1923
insurrection of September 23rd, 1923 ( Bulgarian: Септемврийсковъстание, Septemvriysko vastanie ) is an armed rising, carried out by the Bulgarian Communist party, under the pressure of the Kominterm. It aims at reversing the conservative government of Alexandre Tsankov which had seized the power by the Coup d'etat of June 9th, 1923. In addition to the Communist S, the insurrection is also supported by the Agrarien S and the Anarchiste S. Its supreme goal is “the establishment of a government of workers and peasants” in Bulgaria, and not the conversion of the country into a system of the Communism type. However, badly prepared, the insurrection fails lamentably and opens one period of white Terreur in Bulgaria.
