The Institut of public health (or scientific institute of public health) of abbreviation ISP is a governmental scientific institution Belgian, depend on the federal public service of the public health.

Its role is to give a scientific support for the health policy.

Its action concerns mainly:

• monitoring of the Disease S (transmissible or not);
• the control of the federal standards in term of Food, Drug S, etc;
• the evaluation of risks (chemicals, GMO, etc);
• biological stock management (collections of stocks of micro-organisms, etc).

In 1995, it was indicated by the Minister for the public health as not focal national within the framework of Belgian plan REITOX. It is charged to collect various data, mainly epidemiologic, on the situation of the Drogue S in Belgium and it transmits them to the European Observatoire drugs and drug-addiction.
