Institute of medicine and astrology Tibetan

Institute of medicine and astrology Tibetan (Tibetan: Men-Tsee-Khang ) is located at Lhassa. It was founded in 1916, by the 13th Dalaï LAMA, Thubten Gyatso. The doctors Tibetans were persecuted as from 1959. The practice of the Médecine traditional Tibetan was prohibited, and of the famous doctors as Tenzin Choedrak was imprisoned Emprisonné in 1959, for nearly 22 years, it fled with Dharamsala in 1980 where it joined the Dalaï Lama. Men-Tsee-Khang survived this period, making it possible medicine Tibetan to be again taught and practiced in Tibet today.

In India, in Dharamsala

After the annexation of the Tibet by China in 1959 and the exile of 150.000 Tibetans, mainly in India, an important sum of the medical knowledge Tibetan could be safeguarded in particular with Dharamsala. In 1961, the 14th Dalaï Lama, Tenzin Gyatso founded with Dharamsala in India an Institute of Medicine Tibetan, the " Medical Tibetan and Astrological Institute" TMAI (Tibetan Men-Tsee-Khang). One teaches there and one develops to with it today Medicine Tibetan in exile. The Chakpori Institute refondé thereafter with Darjeeling in India form also of the doctors Tibetans.
