Institute of higher learning of interpretation and translation

The Institute of higher learning of Interpretation and Translation ( ISIT ) is an university of Interprétation and Traduction, located at 12 rue Cassette in the 6th district of Paris. It is currently directed by Marie MERIAUD-BRISCHOUX.

The ISIT delivers a diploma aimed by the State ((Vat + 5 for the linguistic Die, Bac + 4 for the legal Die).

Since 1957, the ISIT has the role of forming those and those which will intervene like cultural and linguistic mediators in the international exchanges. They will be intercultural translators, interpreters, managers, specialists in the intercultural communication, but also lawyers international and managers of international companies.

Formation with the ISIT

The formation with the ISIT is divided into two dies: the linguistic die and the legal die.

the linguistic die

The linguistic die makes it possible to obtain a diploma aimed by the State Bac + 5.

  • 1st and 2nd years

To be allowed in 1st year: Obtaining the Baccalaureat is obligatory. The candidates must pass an examination of entry. Their file is also examined. To be allowed in 2nd year, the students must have validated their first year of License or their first year in CPGE. They must also pass an examination of entry (except for the students resulting from CPGE under convention with the ISIT) and present a dossier ui will be examined. The first two years of study with the ISIT propose a teaching of integrated the preparatory class type. The course is composed of a general training (right, economy, geopolitics), of an intensive linguistic reinforcement and one initiation to the translation and the topic. At the end of the first and second years, the students obtain their equivalence in License 1 or License 2 of English.

  • 3rd year

To be allowed in 3rd year with the ISIT, the students must have validated their License 2 or their second year in CPGE. Are also necessary: An examination of entry (except for the students resulting from CPGE under convention with the ISIT, an examination of the file

The third year corresponds to one year of professional training and is divided into two six-month periods: one carried out abroad, the other carried out with the ISIT. The third year ends in a training course.

  • 4th and 5th years

The admission in 4th year can be done thanks to the validation of a License 3. An examination of entry as well as a study of file are necessary. The fourth and fifth years correspond to two years of specialization.

Four specializations of level master are proposed:

Intercultural linguistic management (MLI), scientific and technical intercultural Communication (CIST), Interpretation of conference, European Master in specialized Translation.

the legal die

The legal die of the ISIT led to obtaining a legal diploma for the occupation of translator aimed by the State at Bac + 4.

This die is opened to the students wishing to continue a career of lawyer directed towards the international one, and thus trains specialists in right having a high level linguistic ability in one or two foreign languages. The formation is carried out in 4 years jointly with the University of Stamp duty - Paris XI (Faculty Jean Monnet).

  • 1st and 2nd years

The admission proceeds in the same way that for the linguistic die, namely: Obligatory obtaining the Baccalaureat, Examination of entry, Examination of the file.

The course is in particular composed of an intensive linguistic reinforcement centered on the translation and the topic, and of computer course. The students in parallel obtain the years corresponding to the Faculty of Law (Southern Paris XI).

  • 3rd year

A program of international mobility is possible in 3rd year with a foreign university of Right (one year Exchange with the university partner, the License of right being obtained by equivalence to faculty of Seals). This year of studies abroad also validates the 3rd year with the ISIT. The students not taking part in the international exchanges follow the 3rd year out of linguistic die to the ISIT and their license to the Faculty of Law of Seals. For the students not leaving abroad, 2 months an operational training course minimum to France or abroad must be carried out at the end of the 3rd year.

  • 4th year

The students carry out in parallel a first year of Master (Control of right) and the fourth year with the ISIT. At the conclusion of the training in right and obtaining of the diploma of the ISIT, the students have a training of lawyer, while being able to carry on on a professional level an activity of legal translation.
