Presentation of the ISIGE

Environmental dimension, and more generally the questions of durability, must from now on be integrated in the management and the strategic decisions of the company. However, these questions fall under realities complex, which utilize a multitude of scientific competences, economic, legal but such social and of communication.

For better managing these new parameters, the companies have need for frameworks laying out D a broad vision and implementing tools and adapted methodologies.

The Institute of higher learning of Engineering and Management of the Environment is a center common to three universities of engineers:

  • 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Mines of Paris
  • the National school of the Highways Departments
  • the National school of the Agricultural engineering, Water and the Forests

Being based on the complementarity of their competences, the ISIGE develops education acts in the field of the Environnement and the Sustainable development in France and abroad.

The ISIGE in addition carries out various research and draft studies in its fields of competence.

The Mastère specialized of the ISIGE

Presentation

The ISIGE proposes in particular since 1992 Mastère Spécialisé in Engineering and Management of the Environment (vat +6), a one year professional training which takes place on the campus of the École des Mines of Paris with Fontainebleau. This formation includes/understands six months of formal training and six months of professional mission and is financed by an industrial partnership.

This Mastère Specialized in Engineering and Management of the Environment aims at forming executives able to apprehend environmental dimension and sustainable development under the various technical sides, scientists, economic like social and ethical.

Fruit of a innovating teaching reflection, this mastère specialized aims by its methods of teaching varied to give a comprehensive view of the stakes of sustainable development.

The program is organized in the form of modules in which alternate courses, team work, roleplays, case studies, exits of ground and study trips. Many sets of themes are approached by privileging the systemic approach. The objective is to allow to the students various initial trainings to acquire, beyond the fundamental scientific concepts, a comprehensive view and a critical spirit necessary to the exercise of their future professional responsibilities.

The formation of the mastère of the ISIGE aims to:

  • To approach in a holistic way all the fundamental scientific notions in the field of engineering and management of the Environment

  • To learn how to put in work methodologies for the management of complex systems and in constant evolution

  • To reinforce the capacities of communication, listening and negotiation

  • To develop the critical spirit, team work and the interdisciplinary approach

Public

The formation is addressed to:

  • of the graduates of universities of engineers or holders of an equivalent diploma (Master, DEA or), eager at the same time to specialize and to have first track records in the field of the environment and sustainable development.

  • of the tested executives wishing within the framework of continuing education, to give an impulse to their career.

  • of the foreign students of a diploma equivalent and wishing to perfect their knowledge in the field of the environment and sustainable development in a French institution.

Each promotion couples about thirty students of which two thirds of graduates and a third of frameworks in continuing education.

The profiles are varied:

Engineers general practitioners, chemists, agronomists, geologists, graduates of schools of management or holders of a master in right, social sciences, economic or political.

Program

The Mastère specialized breaks up into two parts:

6 months of intensive seminars of teaching which take place of mid-September at mid-March. Of a volume of approximately 800 hours, the courses are exempted by a hundred speakers resulting from the professional world as well as research professors of the institutions partners.

6 months of professional mission in company allowing the student to write a professional thesis, which is orally constant and in public in front of a jury.

The program of teaching is organized in the form of modules, where alternate courses, case studies, exercises interactive, roleplays, projects in team and visits of ground including three study trips. In each module are approached the following aspects:

  • the training of theoretical concepts

  • presentation of the regulation framework, the stakes and the actors
  • the acquisition of methods and tools of analysis, diagnosis and quantification
  • Of the examples of application, the practical case studies and exits of ground

The modules are distributed according to the following sets of themes:

approaches

During the first 5 months, the students carry out a thorough analysis of the set of actors around an environmental controversy of topicality. For that, they are framed by the Center of Sociology of the Innovation of the École des Mines of Paris. This work gives place to the drafting of a synthesis and a public oral defense.

Industrial partnership

This Mastère Spécialisé is financed thanks to an industrial partnership. This partnership covers the expenses of formation and makes it possible to the students to obtain a remuneration throughout the year.

International formations

The ISIGE is implied in various high level international formations:

  • professional Master “Waste and Ground, Management and Water treatment” - ParisTech

This scientific formation is proposed by seven Universities of PARISTECH. It is exempted in French and is addressed mainly to a foreign public of Bachelor level.

  • Franco-Chinese Mastères Specialized in Management of the environment and management of energy

A consortium of French universities of engineer whose École des Mines of Paris, INSA of Lyon and prestigious Université of Tsinghua to Beijing open in March 2007 two Mastères Spécialisés in the fields of the environment and energy.

Remote formation

The ISIGE engaged since 1999 in a project of “e-learning”, to diffuse towards moreover many people (student or companies) some of the knowledge and specialized knowledge-faires taught in its mastère. Our team, multi-field, imagines, conceives, scénarise and develops courses and case studies in the fields of the environment and sustainable development, within the framework of multipartner sets of themes projects.
