Institute of géoarchitecture
The Institute of Géoarchitecture , founded in 1976, is the department of installation, town planning and environment of the Faculty of Science and Techniques of the Université of Brittany Occidentale. Contrary to the majority of the university departments, it was not founded starting from a discipline, but was structured for a high level vocational training in its field. The Institute delivers a License, of which it ensures the lesson of third year, and professional Master (with two options or “specialities”: town planning and development, environment and installation) and comprise a Group of doctoral Formation associated at a research center (Team of reception 2219). Lastly, at the request of occupational classes, it ensures regularly of the sessions of continuing education. For this reason, in partnership with the college Dupuy-of-Lome, the Institute undertakes the teaching program of the professional License “environmental Management and total quality of constructions” whose administrative management is treated by the service of continuing education of the University.
The Institute of Géoarchitecture is member of APERAU (Association for the Promotion of Teaching and Research in Installation and Town planning), and of the AESOP (Association off European Schools off Planning).
Géoarchitecture : the word seems well to be forged by Le Corbusier in 1945 ( three establishments human S, p. 27) when it decided to widen the field of its concerns to town and country planning and the environment, exceeding thus largely the architecture and the town planning, which had primarily retained it up to that point. The task, in its eyes, required multiple competences energy of sciences of nature to those of the man conscientiously comparison. 30 years ago, our institute was created with a similar conviction, from where the choice of this a little enigmatic name, which recovered our project well: not to be pledged with a discipline but, on the contrary, to convene the many ones without installing hierarchy between them.
