Institute of data processing and mathematics applied of Grenoble
The IMAG (Data-processing and Mathematics Applied of Grenoble) was until January 1st 2007 a federation of research units of CNRS, INPG and Université Joseph Fourier, established on several sites of the Grenoble-native agglomeration.
Created in 1988, Institute IMAG federated the Grenoble-native laboratories in Data processing and Mathematics Applied. Federation IMAG (FR 071) was made up of 8 UMR (Mixed Units of Research) placed under the Co-supervision of CNRS (Sciences departments and Communication STIC and Information Technology and Physical sciences and Mathematical SPM), of the Institut National Polytechnique of Grenoble (INPG) and of the University Joseph Fourier (UJF). Two of these units (TO CLIMB and ID) moreover were associated with INRIA.
This federation represented a community of more than 850 people including 40% of doctorands. The teacher-researchers and the researchers took part in the trainings in data processing and mathematics applied of the site.
The federation:
- coordinated the scientific policy and the policy of assignment of the moyensde the community
- organized emergence, the evaluation and the scientific follow-up of projects IMAG which underline the main axes of research of them
- managed the average commun runs of the research units, the data-processing average networks and, a mutualized library and other services.
Since the first January 2007, the IMAG does not coordinate any more the activity of the laboratories, and does not constitute any more that one agency of means to the service of the latter. This evolution in particular saw the birth of the Laboratoire of Data processing of Grenoble and of the Laboratoire Jean Kuntzmann, which are partly made up former research teams of the IMAG.
Mixed units of research
The following laboratories were closed with the first January 2007, and their teams divided between the Laboratoire of Data processing of Grenoble, the Laboratory Jean Kuntzmann and laboratory G-SCOP.
