In Data-processing, the installation is the procedure allowing the integration of a Logiciel on a computer. This procedure is more or less complex according to the computer, the Operating system and according to whether there exists a installor (small software which takes care of the installation) or not.

Operating systems Windows

Generally, the software settles via a installor which deals with automatic of manner the installation. At most the user will have to answer some questions with multiple choices.

Operating systems Linux

According to the distributions, that does not occur always in the same way.

Ubuntu distribution

The installations are supposed to be done via Synaptic , software managing the park of software installed.

They can also be done by line of order thanks to the manager of packages apt-get.

Operating systems Mac OS

Two methods exist as for the installation of a software under this Operating system.

The first method consists with Télécharger a Fichier carrying the extension DMG, to open it - while double-clicking above - and to copy the icon of the program from the Hard drive.

The second method is similar to Windows. It is necessary double-to click on the icon so that an assistant of installation posts itself. Once the finished procedure, an icon of the program is deposited on the Desk.

It should be noted that under a Macintosh system the programs are, in the majority of the cases, in the form of one only icon which one should not thus remove, if not that corresponds to the desinstallation of the software.

Configuration

The installation can include the configuration of the program.
For example, in the case of the application Thunderbird, the configuration takes place.
