Insming is a common French located in the department of the the Moselle in Lorraine.

Insming: origins

This locality known since VIIIe century is indicated in the old ones titrates under the names of: Asmangia, Esminga, Amange, Ensmingen… According to the titles, Insming is the oldest commune of the canton of Albestroff. In XIIe century, there was in Insming a priory depend on the Abbey of Saint-Mihiel, whose foundation goes back to the end of XIe century. This village was as of XIe century a tiny dependence of the seigniories which had in Alsace and Austrasie, the powerful Counts de Ferrettes and of Montbeliard.

Personalities related to the commune

  • Fernand Lambert (1904-1981) was mayor of Insming of 1945 to 1977. Not only T it has inaugurated the first college in the Moselle according to war, but it also contributed to the economic development and social of the village.
