Inshushinak
Inshushinak is the guardian god of the town of Suse, whose name means in Sumérien “Lord ( in ) of Suse ( shushinak )”.
With the integration of this city in the kingdom élam ite starting from second half of, it becomes one of the principal gods of kings d' Élam. Many sovereigns élamites bear a name théophore referring to him, like Indattu-Inshushinak, Puzur-Inshushinak or Shilhak-Inshushinak.
Inshushinak is before all the principal god of Suse, and it is him which grants to a sovereign the capacity on this city, according to the theological designs of the old East. Concurrently to that, it is a divinity of the world of deaths. Assisted of two other gods, Ishme-karab and Lagamar, he judges the hearts of the late ones.
Its principal temple was in the crowned district of Suse, and a Ziggourat (known only by the texts) was assistant for him. According to the local religious tradition, undoubtedly of origin élamite, this temple was in the middle of a crowned thicket. Another temple of Inshushinak was in the town of Hard-Untash (Choga-Zambil), and was also accompanied by a ziggourat. The god susien divided it with Napirisha, the god of the area of Anshan.
