Insanity

Insanity : Mental disorder, psychic weakening. This term dates from the time of the doctor mental specialist Philippe Pinel, who employed it to indicate the " mental aberrations not fébriles" , i.e. nonorganic mental disorders. The term was replaced in 1850 by that of Psychose, but was still employed to indicate psychoses of long life with psychic weakening.
