Ingressin
The Ingressin , is a French river which runs in the Département of Meurthe-et-Moselle. It is an affluent of the the Moselle out of left bank, therefore a tributary of a tributary of the the Rhine.
Geography
Ingressin is born on the territory from the commune of Foug. The river has an orientation going of the west towards the east. It joins the Moselle on the level of the town of Toul.
Its inordinately broad valley is the old bed of the Moselle, of time when it was going to be thrown in the Meuse, in opposite direction. Today, it is borrowed by the Canal of the Marne from the Rhine. In the north of this one large the Regional natural park of Lorraine begin with beautiful forests (Wood of Raumont, wood of Pagney). Those are also present on all the southern edge of the valley (Wood of Moncel, wood of Grammont, wood of Domgermain).
Common crossings
Ingressin crosses, of upstream downstream, the following communes:
-
Foug, Écrouves, Choloy-Ménillot and Toul, all four located in the Department of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
Hydrology
The flow of Ingressin is very modified by the anthropic actions. They are the rejections of the channel of the Marne in the Rhine which are done in the river. It is thus necessary to distinguish the natural flows and the flows anthropic
Natural flows
Ingressin is a moderately abundant river. Its flow was observed during one 14 years period (1991-2004), with Toul, important city of the Département of Meurthe-et-Moselle located at the level of the confluence with the the Moselle. The catchment area of the river is there of 235 km ² (either it quasi totality of this last).
The medium flow interannual natural or module of the river with Toul is of 1,87 m ³ a second.
Ingressin presents seasonal fluctuations of flow marked well, like often in the center and the west of Lorraine. The high waters take place in winter and are accompanied by an average monthly flow located in a fork going from 0,714 to 0,896 m ³ a second, from January to March included (with an in January maximum). At the beginning of April, the medium flow drops gradually until the period of low waters. Those take place in summer and at the beginning of the autumn, from July to October included, accompanied by a fall of the monthly medium flow going up to 0,179 m ³ in August, that is to say 179 liters a second, which remains extremely consistent. But the fluctuations are much more marked over short periods and according to the years.
Indeed, with the low water level, the VCN3 can fall until 0,048 m ³, in the event of dry period quinquennial, that is to say 48 liters a second, which by no means severe, is compared with the average of the rivers of the moist west of Lorraine (see note).
As for the risings, they are moderated, always compared with those of the close rivers. The QIX 2 and QIX 5 or calculated flows of biennial and quinquennial rising are worth respectively 4,5 and 6,7 m ³. The QIX 10 or calculated flow of decennial rising is of 8,1 m ³ a second, the QIX 20 of 9,5 m ³, while the QIX 50 was not calculated fault of duration of sufficient observation to establish it (see note).
The maximum instantaneous flow recorded at the station of Toul was of 9,93 m ³ a second on February 26th, 1997, while the value maximum day laborer was of 5,95 m ³ a second on January 25th, 1995. By comparing the first of these values on a QIX scale of the river, it arises that this rising of February 1997 was a little more important than the theoretical vicennial rising defined by the QIX 20, and thus intended to reproduce the every approximately 20-25 years.
Ingressin is a moderately abundant and regular enough river for the area. The Lame of water past in its catchment area is of 257 millimetres annually, which enough moderated in Lorraine, lower than the overall average of France, but also largely lower than the average of the French basin of the the Moselle (445 millimetres with Hauconcourt, downstream from Metz). The specific Flow of the river (or Qsp) thus reached the figure of 8,1 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
Flows anthropic
The average interannual flow really observed with Toul, with the confluence of Ingressin and the Moselle is worth 1,75 m ³ a second for a catchment area of 56 km ² (ref.: ). The strong difference with theoretical output is due primarily to the important rejections of the channel of the Marne in the Rhine, in particular with Foug and the port of Toul. Under these conditions, the Lame of water past in the basin is of 985 millimetres. As for the specific Flow of the river, it is assembled consequently at 31,25 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
