Geography
The city is located at the North-West of Orleans, in edge of Beauce.History
Archaeological excavations revealed the first traces of dwelling of the Neolithic going back to 10.000 years before Jesus Christ as well as vestiges Gallo-Roman S on the site of the commune.Its original name is Unigradus , mentioned on an act of the June 19th 946 yielding this stronghold of Hugues the Large one, Duc of the Francs with the Abbey of Chartres. Then the name will evolve/move in Unagradu , then, Ingréio , finally Ingré . Under the reign of Philippe Auguste the bishop of Chartres will do of it one of his four large prévotés and it will remain about it thus until the Révolution. The wine there was cultivated but primarily to make some vinegar of Orleans celebrates it. The grounds of this area unfavorable to the great wines in spite of them will have made it possible to make a vinegar which was recognized a long time for one of best of France.
